The first thing you need to know about family photos at Emmerling Park: there is the best ice cream spot two minutes from the park called Emmerling's. It's my family's favorite place to get ice cream around Pittsburgh, so I would recommend definitely stopping by after your session! OK, now on to why I love using Emmerling Park for family photos. I love the location because of the diversity in landscape and the openness of the park. I have never felt crowded at Emmerling Park. There is a beautiful meadow, a creek, bridge, wooded areas, and a field. It truly is such a beautiful location for family photos, and as a Pittsburgh family photographer, I am always on the hunt for perfect locations for my clients that offer diverse landscapes.

Why Emmerling Park is a Perfect Location for your Family Photos

If you’re looking for a location that is outside and has features like a meadow, creek, and a bridge, Emmerling Park is perfect for your family photos. It’s located about thirty minutes northeast of Pittsburgh in Cheswick, PA and is a great park. My favorite place to take photos at this location is in the meadow and on the bridge. It’s incredibly beautiful. There’s also several trails and a playground for you to explore. Emmerling park is expansive, so even when there are other photo sessions happening, we don’t feel rushed or crowded. And did I mention ice cream? Seriously – you need to try Emmerling’s for ice cream on your way out. HOMEMADE ice cream after your family photos, what could be better?

How to Prepare for Your Family Session at Emmerling Park

My sessions are super relaxed. I don't expect you or your kids to stand still or behave the whole time. We focus on interaction. I guide you through the whole session, tell you what to do, and if your kids are running around and not cooperating, I promise you, you will receive beautiful photos that tell the story of your family exactly how it is. With that being said, you don't need much to prepare for your family photos at Emmerling Park.


After you book your session, I send you a link to the private client area on my website that gives you wardrobe advice, location advice if we haven't picked the location yet, and every little detail you would need to feel prepared going into your session. And if you have additional questions, I am always available to contact through email.


But truly, you just need to get dressed and be yourself at the session. I will take care of everything else.
